Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma participated in a series of service and outreach programmes in Mau under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, honouring soldiers and engaging with sanitation workers during his visit.
At a felicitation ceremony held at the Community Hall, Sharma honoured serving and retired soldiers for their contribution to national security. Paying tribute to their courage, sacrifice and dedication, he said the contribution of the armed forces in safeguarding the country’s borders was invaluable. He added that the sense of duty displayed by soldiers enables citizens to carry out their responsibilities in a secure environment and that society must express its gratitude towards service personnel and their families.
Sharma said the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan seeks to strengthen dialogue and engagement with different sections of society. He said service, good governance and the welfare of the underprivileged were being prioritised, while the cleanliness campaign had evolved into a people’s movement.
Later, Sharma shared a meal with sanitation workers and interacted with them to understand their work, facilities and concerns. He highlighted their crucial role in maintaining clean and healthy cities and directed officials to ensure that the needs and welfare of sanitation workers and their families are addressed with sensitivity.
Sharma said the campaign was strengthening the values of respect, empathy and service towards different sections of society. He noted that soldiers protect the nation’s borders while sanitation workers help keep cities clean and healthy, with both performing important responsibilities in service of the nation and society. He said the government remained committed to the dignity and welfare of such frontline workers.
